J-rock Artists take a stab at reconstructing one of the most heralded albums of all time, Nirvana’s 1991 Nevermind.

Just a shy over 20 years have past, and Kurt Cobain would have been 45 this week. In honor of his birthday week, news was released that a group of J-bands have put together a mighty tribute album.

Sounds eerily good, except for some of the lyrics sound a little off. Of course, understanding Cobain’s lyrics are pretty damn hard to do.

Ah, now we get to the nitty gritty. Videos #4 – #2 bring the funny. One will leave you out of breath. One will show you the worst possible covert ops and one will gend your benders or bend your genders. All three videos should at least make you smile.

#4 Comeback My Daughters- “Why”

Whew! The whole band of Comeback My Daughters are attacking a couple of blocks of  New York City with their instruments in hand. It’s like they are late for a gig or practice or something. “Why” is a beautiful pop song and “Hey!” I like it. But I LOVE the video. I also love shaky cam videos, and anyone who plays guitar outside a taco bell express is a friend in need.

#3-Dezille Brothers -”Gokigen Naname”

Keeping tails on a girl can be hard work and usually requires a team of experts. Yet when said girl is having the worst possible day of her life, she pretty much leaves a trail of disasters that anyone can follow.  The Dezille Brothers are hilarious in this and produce one of the funniest video and funkiest video of 2011.

#2-10-Feet- “Sono Muko E”

So what could possibly funnier? Well the band 10-Feet in full Geisha drag. These guys sound like the Barenaked Ladies gone hard rock and they literally rock out with their cocks out in the single “Sono Muko E.”  This humorous video reminds me of something the Foo Fighters would put together. Just plain AWESOME.

Which begs the question, “What could be more awesome than this?” Stay tuned for #1 and a few runner-ups that deserve mention.

10-Feet make really ugly Geisha. But it sure is fun as hell to watch them entertain foreigners in their PV for “Sono Muko e.”

You know, if you squint really hard, the one on the left is kind of hot. “Wha-at?”  Dig your toes deep into this rocking song from 10-Feet, you won’t be disappointed.

Not only is it a big month, personally, but by judging from our release calendar, July looks to be a great month for music, as well. The Telephones’ major debut is slated for release as well as ACIDMAN’s 7th album, A beautiful greed. If those were the only two releases this month, July would be amazing, but of course there’s much, much more.

There are so many releases to be excited about. What are you looking forward to this month?

VANDALIZE is the rock trio 10-FEET’s fifth album and first original full-length release since 2006′s TWISTER.

Takuma (vocals/guitar), Naoki (bass/vocals), and Koichi (drums) have been jamming together since 1997. Originally formed in Kyoto, they released their first maxi single in 2001 and have been kicking down the doors of rock ever since. The trio’s fusion of punk rock, metal, hip-hop, and more is distinguishing as is the intensity of their live performances.

A theme of VANDALIZE is how happiness isn’t something to pursue and is to be found in present life, according to the band. It also seeks to connect ‘fragments’ with many ideas and love. It’s suprisingly deep stuff man.

VANDALIZE includes 10-FEET’s two most recent singles: “STONE COLD BREAK” and “goes on”.
