ã¤ã—ã¾ã¿ã‚Œ (TsuShiMaMiRe) is an all girl rock trio that formed in 1999. Mari, Yayoi, and Mizue met while attending university in Chiba and began playing together in clubs there.
They released their first demo in 2001 and in 2004 toured across America, playing at South by Southwest (SXSW). They’ve since joined a number of US tours with other all-girl bands from Japan. In 2006, TsuShiMaMiRe played on the Japan Nite US TOUR which featured ELLEGARDEN, STANCE PUNKS, PE’Z, The Rodeo Carburettor, and THE EMERALDS.
TsuShiMaMiRe played at the Firefox Rock Festival ’07, a music festival in Shibuya, Tokyo that was streamed live on the internet.
Their music is described as blending the elements of “punk, avant garde, free jazz, ska, surf, and funk” and lyrics are often funny or disturbing.
While the name “ã¤ã—ã¾ã¿ã‚Œ (TsuShiMaMiRe)” may sound very Japanese, it is actually gibberish.
