NICO Touches the Walls

Biography

With an unforgettable name, NICO Touches the Walls is a band quickly rising in the Japanese rock scene.

Formed in 2004, NICO Touches the Walls won the LOTTE Prize at the 2004 YAMAHA TEENS’ MUSIC FESTIVAL.

The band’s four members go back a ways. All except Sakakura attended the same high school where they met and Tsushima and Furumura have been friends since childhood.

The quartet’s success has really picked up since they made their indie debut with Senha and Company in 2006. They released two indie mini albums that year: Walls Is Beginning and runova x handover.

In 2007, NICO Touches the Walls signed a deal with Ki/oon Records. Their debut mini album, How are you? came out in November 2007. February 2008 brought us their first major single: “夜の果て” (Yoru no Hate, End of Night).

The band’s unique name equates “walls” with obstacles in the world and the band’s desire to go beyond them to their own world, Mistumura says.

All of the members have nicknames. Mitsumura: みっちゃん (Micchan), Furumura: 古くん (Furukun), Sakakura: サッカン (Sakkan), and Tsushima ティム (Tim).
