I think we are off to a good start right? So, getting into the groove with my pics for videos #7 thru #5 actually involves choosing some literal R&B groove, along with techno covers and solid J-rock.
#7- Ovall- Feverish Imagination
Tap your toes to some smooth jams from Ovall. Their “Feverish Imagination” was easily one of the highlights for 2011 R&B music. Because this is a fully functioning band that rocks it and sways it, their music easily bends the alternative earbuds of rock fans who love funk, rhythm and blues. Ovall also show they are quite the masters of puppets in this cute video that mixes animation and puppetry with live action.
#6-Heavenstamp- Stand By You
Heavenstamp is about as mainstream rock as you are going to get from Japan. Gorgeous female lead singer. Sexy voice. Funky riffs and psychedelic guitars and a hook of a chorus. Even better is that you can probably play the guitar riff on your kazoo. The PV knocks this killer single up a few notches do to some extremely hot and creepy nurses. You haven’t seen a hospital this rocking and scary since the last time you played Silent Hill.
#5-Crossfaith- Omen
You can’t have a countdown of rocking videos without including a video directed by Maxilla Films. These guys know how to make rock bands look good, and they make Crossfaith shine. Crossfaith completely knocks it out of the park with their sand dune kicker cover of Prodigy’s “OMEN.” After I originally posted about this video waaay back in May, I’ve probably gone back and replayed this track like 100 times. This single was part of the Japan release only of their latest album The Dream, The Space. Yet, if you want to check out their album minus this killer single, it’s now available at U.S. Itunes for $7.99.
