Punk rock in Japan can be a little suspect. It’s often pop punk or skater punk and rarely sounds like traditional punk. Well color me surprised to hear TV-Addictions single “Suspect Yourself” actually sounding like real punk.
TV-Addictions come off sounding a bit like a mix of Social Distortion and The Ramones with younger vocals. You also get lots of great “Whoa-a-ooos” mixed with massive amounts of guitar chugging. The band gets points for wearing traditional leather too. Thumbs up dudes.
I don’t know what the rest of the album sounds like, but this single is impressive. Find it out on A Hymn for the TV-Freaks out 6.15.2011. Preorder from Amazon.jp.

It’s a nice band, but americanised japanese bands are not the reason I like japanese music that much.^^
