Sometimes you hear a band name like “the cabs” and then you hear some of their music, and it immediately sounds like “Death cab for cutie,” and you might get a little bit judgemental. Well, honestly I never followed Death Cab for Cutie and was hating indie rock during their brief tenure as college darlings.
So find me a little more excited to hear a band like “the cabs” whose lead singer does sound like Ben Gibbard, but with a nice mixture of indie and screamo sensibilities. The single “二月の兵隊” translates to something like “February Soldier,” and we get little bursts of quick military drumming. It’s a nice diversion even if derivative, and I say give these guys a listen. I’m all about some screaming.

Yeah it’s kind of obvious you’ve never listened to Death Cab, because this sounds nothing like them, even if you ignored the screamo bits.

I was mostly comparing the lead singer’s voice to Ben Gibbards which I think sounds very similar. There was a lot of flack about Owl City and how that guy sounded too much like Ben Gibbards too.
