Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re are back with a 90′s crunch in their single “Grapefruit Girl.” You can almost hear remnants of Belly and the Breeders in this grungy serenade. The sometimes off-key vocals and occasional off-note guitar solo actually make this track better. Consider me a fan.

The PV is fruitful in the literal sense, but lacking in production. That’s ok. The song makes up for it.

“Grapefruit Girl” is on Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re’s latest album Giving Blood out 2.23.2011. Preorder from yesasia.com right now.

Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re doo-be doo-be doo-be on their myspace and official website.

  1. [...] Neaux writing for Sparkplugged nails 80 percent of what “Grapefruit Girl” sounds like by busting out the “G” word – this has some hints of grunge for sure. I’d add though how important the vocal style is, Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re adopting a semi-cutesy indie-pop delivery reminiscent of Heavenly or, sorta obviously, Marine Research. Either way it’s a solid rock song from a band I completely forgot about until this moment. Crazy night!
