“Butsumetsu Torishuna” (仿»…トリシュナー) by 88 Kasho Junrei (å…«å八ヶ所巡礼, 88 Temple Pilgrimage) will come out of your amp head and take your real head on a trip. If you’re (crazy) like me, the loopy guitar riff and funky bassline will together manifest into a giant stone that will slosh around inside your skull. After about five minutes, the song will stop but the spinning of the head won’t. It’s lovely. The moment everything comes together for the chorus is beautiful contrast.

I love this band to bits. The guitar is so old-style, pre-Nirvana. And the image is very cool. Also, I wonder why so many Japanese bands have 8′s in the names/songs. Hachi sounds good but… any other ideas?

I’d love to hear more of their stuff! How does some of their other work compare to this? Good question! I’m not sure about other bands but their name must have been taken from “The 88 Temple Pilgrimages” in Shikoku (http://www.sacred-destinations.com/japan/shikoku-88-temple-pilgrimage.htm), I just looked it up. From the link, “The 88 Temple Pilgrimage (å…«å八ヶ所巡り hachijÅ«hakkasho-meguri) is a 1,647-kilometer Buddhist pilgrimage circuit around the island of Shikoku, Japan.” <—perhaps that's a better translation then what I originally wrote considering the "Kasho" refers to counting buildings =)

I need one of those.
you know. the golden dancing statue person. It would make a great focal point in my living room.
