A band that has been making a lot of noise in the Japanese indie world as of late is the smash-collab project Kimonos. One of those “how in the world did those two get together” moves, Kimonos is a partnership between Japanese indie rock icon Mukai Shutoku (向井秀徳) and up-and-coming singer Leo Imai (LEO今井). The music itself is another mystery in its blending of Mukai’s typical ZAZEN BOYS-esque idiosyncrasy with Leo’s sheer polish. But, it cannot be denied that it works wonders for the ears and makes Kimonos’ upcoming self-titled album one of the more anticipated pieces of this coming month.

More information on Kimonos can be found at their official website.

I agree with Neaux, this is great. It is a somewhat nostalgic style of something David Bowie could make if he were Japanese and paired up with the Police :P

    agreed, everything
sounds great, crazy mashup (mukai drumming??)

but, seriously Leo’s ultra close-ups and wonky faces kindaaaaa give me the willies.

I too agree with Neaux and this is fantastic. The video’s high contrast and close-ups fit perfectly with the song.
