As we examine the next entry in the latest from electronic-friendly band THE JETZEJOHNSON, we can see an evolution into a much more dance club-oriented theme. The song “Fury”, found on their latest album “SOLID BREAKS UPPER”, exudes a heavy synth beat that one would typically find pumping from a DJ booth. The simplistic and repeated autotuned English lyrics also compliments this move. I can’t help but draw comparisons to BOOM BOOM SATELLITES. It really isn’t until you reach the half-way point of the album that you start to see glimpses of a more light and almost whimsical approach to the generally synth heavy sound of “SOLID BREAKS UPPER”. You even manage to find some chiptune as YMCK leads their expertise on the song “clear mind”. It is a fairly good pick-up for those who want to hit the club but still keep a footing in rock music.
