A man walks into a small club in Tokyo. The thumping bass. Spotting that one girl in the dancing crowd. With no apologies, The Brixton Academy is all too familiar with these feelings. Named after the famous London venue, the band has no problems flaunting their love for traditional 80's new-wave. Combining the dance club aesthetic of サカナクション (Sakanaction) and the laid-back rock of くるり (Quruli), the band creates a polished yet low-key relaxing mood that is all too rarely found in new-wave bands nowadays. "So Shy" can be found on their recently-released album "Vivid".

More information on The Brixton Academy can be found at their official website and samples from "Vivid" can be found on their MySpace.

effin awesome! Sakanaction meets Quruli is a great characterization =) As a fan of both, I dig. The lyrics in “So Shy” are a bit cheesy but I don’t mind…being to-the-point is something I can appreciate and enjoy. This one gets 4 saw waves of approval from me /\/\/\/\/
