2004 gave us MOSH PIT ON DISNEY, an nearly mind-blowing compilation of famous Disney songs covered by bands like ACIDMAN, the band apart, DOPING PANDA, BEAT CRUSADERS, CUBISMO GRAFICO FIVE, and SUEMITSU & THE SUEMITH. Now that was an album with some serious repertoire but it may have just gotten even better.
Disney Rocks! is a new breed of Disney cover song compilation. The nine-track album features covers by avengers in sci-fi, GOLLBETTY, the chef cooks me, The Telephones, Rufus, OTOGIBANASHI, →Pia-no-jaCâ†, Riddim Saunter, and Keiichi Sokabe.
That roster is an instant win. Considering how many of those bands have been featured on SparkPlugged, it’s like some of our favorite artists took part in one of those teleportation experiments but it went awry when a box set of classic Disney DVDs got left in one of the machines — a musical version of The Fly.
For the record, here’s some past articles: avengers in sci-fi (link), GOLLBETTY (link), the chef cooks me (link), The Telephones (link, 2, 3), Riddim Saunter (link).
Disney Rocks! is produced by Village Vanguard and set to drop February 27th.

I forgot to comment on some of the particular songs =P I’m a bit apprehensious to hear “A Whole New World” done by GOLLBETTY since I do really like that song and ska-ifying it seems to take away the balladic beauty. As for The Telephones’ “Heigh Ho”…I can’t even begin to imagine what that’ll sound like, my god!! haha

I’m new to your site and currently poking around here – and here you go, mentioning mosh pit on disney while reporting on this compilation, which was the first thing I thought of as well. XD
Did anybody already happen to find this one somewhere? Guess I have to dig through the record shops when I get back to Japan in summer!
