“OUI! OUI! OUI!” is what a French music critic might say after listening to The Mirraz’ dynamic debut album.

Titled along with some fitting exclamation marks, OUI!OUI!OUI! is a spectacle of garage rock revival action. The album made its way to stores on December 3rd, 2008.

The trio’s music and the material on OUI!OUI!OUI! is a dashing, chaotic rock with some class. There’s a method to the madness and the music isn’t particular heavy — don’t confuse ‘heavy’ with loud and erratic though.

Think something between KLAXONS and The Arctic Monkeys. That may be a broad range but there are similarities that glare like light off a mirrorball in a club I want to party in. The KLAXONS semblance is certainly there in instances. The band defines its music with 60s mods, 70s punk, and 00s UK labels.

Perhaps the most refreshing musical element that The Mirraz bring to the table (workbench?) is the the rambling vocals of lead singer/guitarist Shohei Hatakeyama. The pace and wordiness of Hatakeyama’s lyrics drape a blanket of bedlam over the already quirky music.

The Mirraz recently hosted a OUI!OUI!OUI! “New Album Release Partyeah” with the ARROWS, Veni Vidi Vicious, and PILLS EMPIRE.

OUI!OUI!OUI! is The Mirraz’ first full-length album but they do already have a number of releases underneath their collective studded belt. Formed in September 2006, The Mirraz have released a demo, a compilation album, an album (a “0th album” that doesn’t count as the official debut), and a split single with fellow rockers Veni Vidi Vicious.

The band is Shohei Hatakeyama (vocals & guitar), Ryotaro Wada (bass & chorus), and Rui Sekiguchi (drums). The guys are currently signed with mini muff records.

Check out the PV to the song that OUI!OUI!OUI! starts off with. It’s titled “CANのジャケットのモンスターみたいのが現れて世界壊しちゃえばいい” — and I’m not even going to try to translate that. The robot/creature guys are almost as cool as evil pots and pans robots! Enjoy:
