We all know how it goes with Japanese music videos on Youtube. They’re on Youtube for just a short time before they’re deleted by the copyright holder. Lame. Sometimes it is the record company but usually its the music video channel whose watermark appears in the corner of the video.

audio downloadsThe solution? Corporations and independent labels have began embracing Youtube and uploading their artists’ music videos themselves. It’s a win-win for fans and the record companies! So, here’s a quick list we compiled of 8 Japanese record companies with official channels on Youtube. Some are big, some small and some artists are superstars while others are up-and-coming indie musicians. There’s something for everyone.

So go out, watch, and be happy with no worries of impeding deletion. One caveat though: some of PVs are not embeddable. Also, many artists have their own channels so if you find those, check ‘em out.

    I don’t listen to most of those artists… I think my friend mentioned one of the bands on there so I’m going to take a peek. :D

    That’s good there’s at least one :P and hopefully they have a lot of PVs from that artist. With the amount of videos on some of these channels, there are some great opportunities to explore too :)

    It’s interesting that there are so many official channels for youtube now and that Universal leads the pack. There is another official channel that I sometimes check out that has Megamasso and stuff. The HearJapan Youtube Channel:

    I like that companies are finally responding and putting their own Music Videos on YouTube for everyone to see for a long time :p . It’s sad when a music video someone else uploads gets the axe. I hope more artists are added if all goes well. :D

    Yeah I’m happy to finally see some of them embrace the benefits of having PVs available online :) Universal is at the top here and they’re also the first big company I saw that had official videos on US Youtube. +3 points to Universal (a lot for a major label :P)

    Youtube is one of the best Web 2.0 service on the internet today. I really love watching music videos and funny video clips on Youtube.
