Parallel Park by tacica. Let’s consider the task of parallel parking. Think about how stressful and tedious it can be. Okay? tacica’s Parallel Park is nothing like that.
Parallel Park is the debut album from tacica. It’s a strong release that doesn’t venture far from genre confines. Instead, the band explores within their sound, finding a nice place without getting too comfortable. It’s another case of “that music is only coming from three guys!?”
The trio from Sapporo formed in 2005 and played their first shows at Sapporo’s BESSIE HALL and COLONY clubs. They released their first EP, “Human Orchestra” on LilBallet Records in 2007. Their second, “黄色ã„カラスe.p.” (Kiiroi Karasu, Yellow Crows) came in January 2008.
Parallel Park begins rather differently than how it ends, and the middle of the album protudes above the horizon. The core of Parallel Park literally is when it comes to the climax of tacica’s strolling melodies.
“人間1/2″, “HERO”, and “黄色ã„カラス” form a cohesive bunch while tracks like “サカナヒコウ”, “ウソツã‚ズナミダ”, and “ãƒã‚¯” aptly trail.
The album leaves the listener energized yet relaxed. Perhaps the “park” in the title is a noun, not a verb.
As for the cover art, it makes me wonder where the 3D glasses are.
