Fox loco phantom’s crazy night at SHIBUYA-O
By Shay • May 5th, 2008 • Category: Check it Out, Top StoryIndie rockers Fox loco phantom are hosting an incredible night of music with five great bands. On May 27, Fox loco phantom and 251 present a special party at SHIBUYA-O West.
The concert features Fox loco phantom, plane, BUGY CRAXONE, jimmywhat, and The Jerry and is titled “太宰の猫目” (Dazai no Neko Me, Dazai’s cat eyes). The name is a reference to troubled yet brilliant writer Dazai Osamu (太宰 治). It’s the largest in a series presented by the band and CLUB251 in Shimokitazawa.

The doors open at 6 pm (18:00) and the show starts at 6:30 (18:30) and it’ll certainly be a tirelessly long, frenetic night. Tickets are still on sale as of now.
It’s pretty impressive when Fox loco phantom can host a show featuring the likes of plane and BUGY CRAXONE. The former, a smooth and lively quartet signed to a major label while the latter is instantly recognizable as one of the foremost bands on the underground circuit in the last decade.
Fox loco phantom are a group of dynamic rockers that formed just a short time ago in 2007. The band is Yoda Tatsuyoshi (vocals), Izumida Yoshi (guitar), Saito Ryo (guitar), Hideo (bass), and Andrew (drums) and was essentially formed by Hideo, formerly of the band KOHL. They released their first album in November 2007 and are signed with HOMEBIRD JAPAN Records.

Listening to Fox loco phantom’s work, it’s striking how virtually no song sounds alike. They explore various routes and techniques while Tatusyoshi’s craggy vocals and Hideo’s bass are the glue that holds it all together.
As for this show, I want to go. I’m going to Japan in July/August and obviously won’t be there in time for this killer concert. This SHIBUYA-O show is the furthest-out date that Fox loco phantom has listed, so who knows what the rest of the summer holds.
