The Reconquista of GHEEE
By Shay • Feb 23rd, 2008 • Category: Check it OutIf you take four established indie rockers and put them in a band to combine forces of rock awesomeness you’ll have GHEEE.
Formed in 2007, GHEEE (ギー) is the rock quartet of Tomohiro Kondo (近藤智洋, vocals/guitar), Motoaki Fukanuma (深沼元昭, vocals/guitar), HISAYO (bass), and YANA (drums). Each member comes from current or former music projects including PEALOUT, Mellowhead, tokyo pinsalocks, and ZEPPET STORE.

Veteran collaborations are often hit or miss and GHEEE hits the nail on the head. Their indie rock credentials make for some great music. Their sound is defined by loud, high-energy, heavy rock with harmonic vocals of two singers. They play often at clubs in Shimokitazawa (下北沢) and are signed to LAVAFLOW RECORDS.
GHEEE’s second album, Reconquista comes out March 12, 2008.
The first track and lead PV off of Reconquista is “Runaway Pigeon Bus”. The song’s got a strange, grating verse that cuts into a much smoother and melodic chorus. It’s got quite a hook and the guys and girl really rock out.
