Japanese film festival to be the smallest ever
By Todd • Feb 20th, 2008 • Category: Bonus Happy Fun TimeThe city of Yokohama is preparing to have a film festival starting Friday. There are 48 films being shown out of 400 entries. The interesting part about the event is that they were all made using cellular phone cameras.
There will be two types of viewing for them, both using traditional projector and some that can be only viewed on the handsets.
Of course they will all have really low resolution and generally terrible sound, but they are so mobile that you could do many things with them. One of the movies is shot from entirely inside of a fridge. The cameraman must have had to eat through the pudding cups to get in there for the shot!
“Being the first time for the festival, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we’ve had a range of films from regular narrative stories to more experimental films,” organizer Yuko Mori said.
It should be interesting to see how it turns out and if anything more develops.
