Captain Straydum - “Wagamama Chuck”
By Shay • Feb 7th, 2008 • Category: ReviewsCapatin Straydum’s (キャプテンストライダム) latest single jams with a classic feel.
“わがままチャック” (Wagamama Chuck, Selfish Chuck) is a cool, gritty love song with a blues flair. Produced by American producer Steve Jordan, “わがままチャック” really jams and carries the listener through every strum and pick. Lead singer and guitarist Nagatomo Saiya (永友聖也) shines especially. Guitar licks interject quick vocals during the verse. The bridge builds up to the chorus which provides the song’s catch. The verse is still the main attraction thanks to the stand-out instrumentation.
Also on the “わがままチャック” single is “CHERRY BOY”. The song is quick with a skanking guitar riff and much like “わがままチャック” , “CHERRY BOY”, it’s purposefully rough around the edges.
“わがままチャック” is memorable and the proceeding tracks don’t let down. While the title track stands out well above the rest, “CHERRY BOY” is a good b-side and a live track makes for an added bonus.
The cover art is slightly disturbing though, right?
