Outsider – speed rap extraordinaire

Features hip-hop Korea music By Shay

Saying that Outsider can rap fast is an understatement. I’ve almost never heard syllables spouted off so rapidly.

Outsider (아웃사이) may be Korea’s fastest rapper and he may very well be capable of taking the world title one day. Signed with MC Sniper’s Sniper Sound label, he is currently working on new material.

The current Guinness record holder for Fastest Rap MC is Seattle-based rapper Ricky Brown and past title holders including Rebel XD and Twista. Brown’s record was set in 2005 with 723 syllables in 51.27 seconds. Now, I can’t count near that fast but Outsider’s skills may be comparable.

Outsider doesn’t rap in English but seeing how the Fast Rapper title is determined by syllables, he should be able to give it a go.

This clip is from a show where guests must guess if the person is telling the truth of who they are, I believe. It’s a brief showcase and preview of Outsider’s skill.

Outsider is featured in “Better than Yesterday” by MC Sniper.

    well, in Korea there was some rumor that he just fastfoward his rap.But it turned out he really can do the rap with that speed. And… Yeap, they are coming out good :D

    It’s a lot easier to speed in Korean. If you search for it on youtube, you could easily find videos of American High School students in Policy Debate talking at an insanely fast rate. While its not as rhythmic, there’s a lot of complex words and most of the time they’re reading the material for the first time.

    I’m not saying he’s not good, I’m just saying its not as crazy as it seems

    I don’t know if he is the fastest in the world.. for the counting of Korean syllables and those in English are slightly different, but I swear his pronounciations are far better than Ricky Brown’s. He is a great composer, too. You should have a listen to his first album. Not so fast, but very impressive. Outsider admitted that he wanted to show that he can rap like no other, and didn’t want people to only focus on his speed. That’s why he slowed down his rap when recording his new songs.

    So many untruths being told all the time. Yes, it is true that Ricky Brown broke my 2nd Guinness record of 1998 in 05′, but what everyone fails to mention is that I am now once again the current record holder, because I beat the brakes of the record that No Clue set in 2005. as 0f 07-27-2007 with 852 syllables in 42 two secs. Yes, that very much exceeds Outsiders 17 syllables a sec. In fact. If you want more facts, Outsider was NEVER in the Guinness book. Also, this is now my 3rd title for that record.

    Outsider is at 17 syllables a sec.
    And my new and Official record is at 20 syllables a sec.
    Now I’ve greatly approved upon that because being the best takes a 24/7 practice makes perfect kind of outlook.

    does it really matter if he’s in the guiness book? am i gonna enjoy his music anymore? or any less? no, that book wont change a thing, Outsider is still Outsider, pretty good damn music….. Outsider doesnt look like the type that would care to be in the book either, appreciative sure if he found out he was in it but im sure his music is more of a priority to him ^^ and damn just heard his latest songs, it was just wow! his lives are just incredible!

    You know what’s funny is how he says keep your opinions to yourself and he comes right out after and starts talking about his opinions.
    What’s also interesting is that he can only talk when he has an asset on his name, and he goes around defending it cause that’s all he has.
    He’s not even worth anything to the hip hop/rap community. At least Outsider is a major contributor to the k-hop scene. Which then in terms becomes a contribution to the worldwide hiphop/rap scene.

    tlqkf, congrats? You evidently don’t know the prevalence of inferential error associated with the english language. It is pretty easy to jumble meanings in english. Consider all the words that mean the same thing, but to different intensities. An example: “I kicked the ball” as opposed to “I punted the ball”. Both are talking about exerting force upon the ball with the foot, however, they will paint different pictures in people’s heads. Plus, the english language is so deeply rooted with colloquial terms and vernacular understandings that to effectively speak requires a great deal of native interaction. So, while it may be harder to learning to adjust your tongue to fit korean; it is way harder to convey a message when the meanings and words shift annually.

    I think things are starting to go a bit off topic here. Ultimately, Outsider has skills; THAT is a fact that no one can or will deny. Outsider says himself his focus isn’t his speed but rather the emotion and lyricism behind the rap. So let’s leave the debate where it is and just acknowledge skill where it’s due. Sure, I think RebelXD is a bitter little bitch and needs to get over himself. Sure, I think there are some rappers I don’t know about who are faster than Outsider. It doesn’t change the fact that his music is good, his rap is clean, enunciated, and passion-filled, and he is much more humble than you might think.

    P.S. Just because there are some people faster doesn’t mean he isn’t fast. he’s still a fast rapper if he can rap faster than something like 99.999% of the population of earth. -___-;;

    Whats really good about him is not only hes the fastest rapper in Korea, but hes also able to pronounce the words as clearly as possible. People like twista just numble the words so its like bhhbhbhbbllllroeorlelrlerlereeererer. Plus, its harder to rap in korean because we have words that are more complex than english.
