SOUL’d OUT’s “Tongue Te Tongue”
By Shay • Sep 29th, 2007 • Category: Japan, Videos, hip-hop, music, popIf someone ever kept track of the most times the word “tongue” (タン in this case) was said in a song, SOUL’d OUT should win. Beyond that, the hip-hop trio’s latest single is cool, catchy, and the PV is a visual treat. Tasty I say.
SOUL’d OUT’s “Tongue Te Tongue” is the 2nd of a 3-month/3-single continual release series by the group.
The song from Diggy-MO’, Bro.Hi, and Shinnosuke surely has that unique SOUL’d OUT flavor. Melodic rap and an infectious chorus are accompanied by turntable beats and synth. The bridge near the end of the track seems to come out of nowhere just as the listener gets used to the routine.
The music video really stands out well. The predominantly white background is placed behind layers of color and sharp, animated graphics. Stylized images of women and SOUL’d OUT themselves mesh nicely. The guys must have had a blast playing in front of the green screen. The lighting and high contrast on SOUL’d OUT looks good too.
