Jacky Cheung to maids: you’re fired

While Jacky Cheung (张学友, Cheung Hok Yau) may hold a title as one of the four “Cantopop Heavenly Kings”, he’s earned another nickname: Jacky “the Terminator” Cheung.
That’s the nickname some have given him after he and his wife, May Lo were blacklisted as “sub-standard employers” by the Philippine consulate in Hong Kong. This ban comes after the star has fired 21 Filipino maids in three years.
Reuters reports:
Joel Blas, an assistant national officer at the Philippines consulate, was quoted as saying his consul-general had met Lo last week to explain she’d “not be allowed to hire any helpers from the Philippines for one year.”
Cheung has since defended himself.
He said he is “an ordinary employer”.
According to an AFP article:
“An employer can fire an employee if he or she fails to perform, whilst an employee can also resign if he or she is not happy about the employer…Is there anything wrong if we fire a maid when we find out that she is not helpful?,” the 46-year-old said.
So, some claim he’s too harsh but he maintains his normalcy — he’s still blacklisted by the Filipino consulate. I really doubt that he’s the only celebrity who’s “sub-standard” in this way. He’s just the only who’s been called out. Interesting, strange, and pretty funny nonetheless.

Actuly we went through 8 maids in one year most were leaving because they always had the excuse that there dad died..the others are fired becasue they are just to lazy and really stupid…when i say stupid i mean stupid as to be washing a car with a broom or cleaning the bathroom floor with a toilet brush WHEN we alreaddy have 4 scrubbers my brother who is 11 is way taller then the 23 year old maid and thats because they are to stupid to think about nutrients. they tape our lunch for school to gether and waste most of their time on texting people…they make our phone bill higher and electric bill. really i have been pissed with some maids b ut actly there are some wich where ok…the ones who listen and understand english or try there best to understand but thats coz they went 2 school the others dropped out at kinder and they can figure 4 X 5 but not 5 X 4 they tanmper with our music players and broke my dads expensive music player….thank you for reading!
