Probably the most notable all-female band on the radar these days is ãƒãƒ£ãƒƒãƒˆãƒ¢ãƒ³ãƒãƒ¼ (Chatmonchy). But there is another similar band that deserves much recognition: シェリーズ(Sherrys), an all-female Avant-Garde rock trio.

Releasing their first indie single in 2004, Sherrys is a relatively new act that only recently signed a deal with a record company. Currently signed with Zankyo Records, Sherrys’ first nationally released album dropped on November 22, 2006. 夕暮れサイケビート (Yuugure Psyche Beat) contains 9 tracks of progressive rock (プãƒã‚°ãƒ¬) enjoyment.
nakumu (vocals & guitar), Miyako (bass & chorus), and Maeda Saki (drums & chorus) don’t just combine well while playing their instruments, the girls’ voices blend together to form beautiful vocal harmonies and more. Musically, they often experiment with tempo changes, roaring guitar effects, and other tonal dynamics. Their music as well as their approach is Avant-Garde in every sense of the word.
Sherrys’ most stunning song from their new album is “æµ®ã足” (Ukuashi, Floating Feet). The track begins uncomplicated and rough and progresses into a melodic intro before collapsing back into simplicity to make space for nakumu’s vocals. The song morphs into something beautiful when it arrives at its chorus. Vocals mesh with lucid guitar harmonics, a driving bass line, and “cymbalic” rhythm to produce the emotional climax for “æµ®ã足”.
The song’s accompanying PV fits right in. It is simple yet gorgeous. The video’s dim-lit, dark room setting excentuates the mood. Watch for yourself:

I agree with brent, Toad, and kevin. The Sparkplugged player and the profile is AWESOME! Sparkplugged is becoming like a Wikipedia x Last.FM site. Kick Ass.

Wow, I think these girls are absolutely awesome! (least from the 3 some songs that I’m able to find online-i’ve research it alot and found it impossible (at least with my non-existant japanese)to find more about them/more of there music.
Is it possible for this video to be downloaded? if so it’d be awesome, until I find someone to buy some of there stuff-thnx

Yeah they are great! You’ve found 3 songs by them online? I’m impressed ^.^! I think it’s nearly impossible to find their album unless you visit a Japanese indie record store haha.
You can download the video from their main site I think. Just go to http://sherrys.fool.jp click “media” and right click/save as the link titled “「浮ã足ã€ãƒ—ãƒãƒ¢ãƒ¼ã‚·ãƒ§ãƒ³ãƒ»ãƒ“デオをLet’s Watch!” Cheers.
p.s. I guess the vid I have posted doesn’t work anymore because it exceeded the bandwidth limit on the site where it was hosted :S hmmm >.<
