In an effort to fight growing obesity problems, two Japanese bureaucrats have stepped up to the plate. Noritoshi Ishida and Keizo Takemi, both Vice Health, Labor and Welfare Ministers have launched a blog project to keep track of their weight loss efforts.

The men, both 55 years-old plan to exercise more frequently and eat and drink healthier all the while keeping regular waist measurements. They will do so over the span of the next 6 months. Ishida hopes to “lose six kilos and six centimeters of belly”.

Takemi goes on to explain the project’s intent:

“But I want to send a message: ‘If Takemi can do it, everybody can do it’,” he said, pledging to eat only one sweet a day.
