Today (11.8.06) the Japanese band RADWIMPS released their new single. The single is titled “Setsunarensa” (セツナレンサ). After listening to “Setsunarensa” I must exclaim how much I was blown away.

Simply put, this latest song from RADWIMPS rocks! The simplistic and eager guitar riff blends well with the fast vocals. Usually popular songs are designed so you’ll look forward to the chorus. While the chorus in “Setsunarensa” is melodically good, I find myself enjoyed the rap-laden verse. Also, you’re in for an extra good time if you can understand some of the English lyrics.

“Setsunarensa” is a more complex than average song. The progression is pretty unique. You don’t get the standard verse in the second half of the song. After a couple of go-arounds I found myself getting lost in the songs dominance. I wasn’t distinguishing between verse/chorus/bridge but rather consuming the song in the moment, not knowing where it would take me. Yes, that was after multiple listens…a trait of a usually good song.
