I consider it to be a good thing when a listener has a hard time discerning a band’s genre or style. It’s always a welcome task for me to ponder an artist’s influences and sound. Those are my exact reactions to a Japanese rock band, The Mass Missile.

The Mass Missile are a band with a very eclectic sound. The indie-rooted quintet blend elements of high-energy rock with folk, blues, and more.

Powerful guitar parts, driving bass lines, and an array of real/synth instruments: piano, organ, harmonica, violin, etc. are some of the musical elements that set The Mass Missile apart. Yokkun’s powerful and emotion vocals add a real kick to the overall sound. We even often hear the entire band singing in unison; it’s a very nice touch. Song progression is often unorthodox too. There is no question as to the abilities and styles of The Mass Missile. They bring unique elements to the Japanese rock scene and that’s refreshing.

They may not be for everyone but I’ve found if you like ‘em, you really like ‘em.
