Week 1: “Love Song” – m-flo loves Bonnie Pink

“Love Song” is the latest collaborative effort by m-flo. For this latest single, they’ve teamed up with solo star Bonnie Pink. The song is laid back and as the title implies, very romantic and Verbal and Bonnie Pink’s vocal styles blend well together to form a heartfelt song.

“Love Song” seems slightly different from recent m-flo works. While it’s expected that the topic is about love, the song is calmer and the melody is more mellow. The sitar and high-pitched background vocal loops are a nice and unique touch. The vocal loop actually reminds of the one in Kanye West’s “Thru tha Wire”.

As far as the actual video goes, I love it. The cinematography and effects are similar to the PV for “Miss You” by m-flo loves melody and Ryohei Yamamoto. The difference is that “Miss You” is a constant pan-right and “Love Song” is a constant tracking shot that moves forwards. The squiggles and stars against a black backdrop are a nice artistic touch. The flowing nature of the video goes great with the actual song. I’m also a sucker for Bonnie Pink’s lime green dress.

Wanna watch m-flo loves Bonnie Pink’s “Love Song”?

‘PV of the Week’ is a nice continuation of my old ‘Shay’s favorite Japanese PVs’. I don’t know why I stopped that. Anyways, it’s back…sorta.

As much as I love the original m-flo, I have to say, after Lisa left they’ve had a chance to work with just about everyone that matters in the Japanese music industry. Impressive ^^

I’m not into the pv, but the song is nice.

Yeah, I agree…I love the original stuff (Planet Shining) and they’ve done great things post-Lisa.

I like “Love Song” though it’s not my favorite m-flo PV but it’s still better than ‘Summertime Love’ :P.
