8-bit music & pixel art
By Shay • Aug 2nd, 2006 • Category: Audio, More, art, musicLow-fi is currently all the rage here at SparkPlugged! Have a look and a listen with a self-portrait and a song.
Self-Portrait: Off and on for almost a year now, I’ve created pixel art. I really enjoy the technique and style. While appearing simple, creating pixel art is very tedious and precise. Each pixel is strategically placed to eventually form a picture. This particular piece is actually a self-portrait of myself inspired by a photo.

8-bit Music: I recently downloaded YMCK’s Magical 8-bit VSTi plugin for use in FL Studio. Playing around with the little chiptune plugin is simple and fun. After a while I came up with my own song. I give you, “VICTORY IN THE SKY”:

I’m glad to hear that Brent! I know you like YMCK and chiptune so it’s fitting. :) I wanna hear your song(s) if you make ‘em.
Thanks
hey i use fruity loops, too, and i want to install the 8 bit plugin. where did you install it? thanks
do you know how I can install this software?
I have no idea how to get it on my fl studio
awesome song btw =]
Hi, to answer you guys, matt and pat (sorry for lateness)…
1. Download and unzip the file into your FLStudio\Plugins\Vst directory. Once you unzip the folder, open FL Studio.
2. On the menu, go to CHANNELS, at the top says “add one”. Go to there and at the top of the menu says “more…”. Click that.
3. Once you pull up the “more..” plugin, look at the bottom and click on the button that says “refresh”. Select “Fast scan (recommended)” and the plugin should show up in red. Check it and “x” out of the menu.
4. To use the plugin go back to CHANNELS/”add one” and look for the Magical8bitplugin in the list and select it.
5. Have way too much fun making 8-bit music. ^_^
I hope what I said is understandable and thanks matt :)! Good luck guys!
Hello, i’m kinda new to FL Studio, I got the plugin to appear, but how do I hear and add sounds T__T I can’t hear any 8-bit…
Correction: you only place magical8bitPlug3.ddl in your VST folder. Not the whole download.
