Top 5 Coolest & Oddest Collectible Vinyl Toys
By Shay • Jul 4th, 2006Japan is known for some pretty great collectible toys. From the overly cute to the wacky to the grotesque, these are not your average children’s play things. With prices ranging from anywhere between $20 to $200 and beyond, these toys are for serious collectors. While all of these may not necessarily be made by Japanese artists, Japan is where a bulk of the market is. These toys are more art than anything. With that I give you a list of my top 5 favorite odd Japanese vinyl toy collections.
5. ROLITO BOY
ROLITO BOY figures are cute little guys with big heads. The upper half of their head, their brain if you will, appears to describe each character’s personality and feelings.
4. QEE
QEE toys are quite wacky. This particular line of collectibles consists of odd faces and bodies painted onto bear and cat figures. The QEE bears look very much like Be@rbricks actually.
3. TOKIDOKI CACTUS FRIENDS
The CACTUS FRIENDS line from TOKIDOKI is among the most peculiar. These cute kids in their prickly little cactus suits surely stand out and turn heads. The cactus pins are even removable. The collection consists of Sandy, Sabodchan, and their dog Bastardino.
2. TEDDY TROOPS
TEDDY TROOPS form the cutest army ever. These technicolor, big-headed dudes are straight out of Germany actually.They’re perfect for you if you’ve ever wanted to create the ultimate [adorable] miniature army.
1. KUBRICKS
KUBRICKS are among the most famous and well-known toys the world over. Their trademark recreations of famous characters (such as those from Metal Gear Solid) make these things hot commodities. Their Lego-esque look keeps them ‘normal’ enough to wet the collecting appetites of average people. The Be@rbricks line-up should be noted as ‘cool’ as well.

I fell in love with Gloomy Bears myself. But the QEE ones are pretty awesome.
Yeah Jordi, Gloomy Bears are awesome…I’m saving them for my Top 5 Coolest Plush Toy list. ^_^
