Osaka Tough Guys is one of Miike’s earliest films originally released in 1995. He’s been known to incorporate a sick taste of metaphorical imagery with the use of violence, sex, horror, and pure psyché faltering. The film is about two adolescents who are labeled delinquents. They are forced into looking for jobs after they run out of alcohol money. They eventually make their way into the yakuza lifestyle and develop into a thug lifestyle.

If you want a taste of violence and comic relief, check it out if you already haven’t. The film gives you a taste of an early stage of Miike’s film development that you can pinpoint in later films such as Audition or Happiness of the Katakuris.

In addition to the film itself, the re-issue comes with an interview with Miike, biographies and filmographies.

  1. This looks like the kind of movie that I would own. Just because the title is so stupid. If it was American I would shoot myself before owning it.

But regardless, because it’s not some trailer-park thing it makes it neat.

  2. Haha, yeah. An American equivalent title would be “Bad Boys”. xD

  3. I wanna see this! I have seen Audition and it’s CRAZY. Though most of my Japanese friends have never heard of it. I haven’t seen Happiness of the Katakuri’s yet…
