Join the (Namco) club

The American division of gamemaker Namco recently began what is dubbed clubNAMCO. clubNAMCO.com is an online club and store for oldschool Namco fans. We’re talking Pac-Man, Galaga, Pole Position, etc. Era-defining arcade games finally have an official merchandise headquarters.

PAC-MAN

Upon browsing the clubNAMCO store, there’s some pretty cool stuff. Aside from an abundance of cool vintage t-shirts there are some pretty wacky products. These include collections of Pac-Man plush toys, a power-plush collection of moving Pac-Man dolls, rubber mini figures, Pac-Man cushions, and even a plush helmet-type thing. Most of the unique products are specially imported from Japan. Granted that this is just the start of things, many products are ‘coming soon’.

To think of a store devoted to such a niche is good. Maybe we’ll eventually other such cult video game classics get this sort of treatment. It may not be on the same level as Pac-Man but I want to see Konami do a Metal Gear Solid version of this. I doubt that will happen plus that’s off-topic.

Anyway, it’s definetly worth a look whether you’re a hardcore Pac-Fan or not. I’m a bit too young to be a huge fan but some of the products displayed kind of make me want to be.
