hi, just came across your (first i guess) post on santo's 'Idolizing St.Anna' and thought i'd come & see here what's happening;)
check http://www.keikaku.net/ & http://www.artskool.biz/jem/ if you want some band infos.. bear in mind that pizzicato five & cibo matto are both quite unique.. to brent's list i could add YMCK (some 8bit pizzicatoesque craziness) http://ymck.net/e/index.html and the infamous Takako Minekawa (another good representative of 'shibuya kei' sound like cornelius, kahimi karie, the aprils, & pizzicato five)

WOW, Brent! I knew you were the go-to music guy. You're expert enough for me. I'll check them all out. Miho's solo project particularly interests me. I shall look into all of them! Thanks again and keep on rocking! ^_^

Ah, if you want Japanese music similar to the stylings of Cibo Matto and P5 you may like a group called Guitar Vader, Fantastic Plastic Machine, or this other artist by the name of Cornelius. Cornelius is actually signed on the Matador label which is the same one Pizzicato is on. It doesn't quite have the bubbley femme japanese vocals that I'm sure you love about those groups though.

Also, Miho Hatori from Cibo Matto has her own solo project under her name that is pretty much derivative of that group so you should almost absolutely like that. Its called "Ecdysis" I believe.

Just to drop some names that aren't necessarily very similar to CM or P5, but are some j-groups i'm familar with and like: Supercar, Plus-Tech Squeezebox, Luminous Orange, The Aprils, Kahimi Karie, Judy and Mary, Go! Go! 7188, The Pillows, Asobi Seksu(from NYC)

That might be a good starting point... I'm no expert on Japanese music because, well, I'm not Japanese and its not very easily accessible here in the US. Hope that helps.
