If you haven’t heard of the Japanese social networking site Mixi, you’re probably not Japanese. But I am also certain that many Japanese-speaking people have heard of it. Regardless, it’s worth a discussion.
As stated above, Mixi is a Japanese social networking site. It’s pretty much the Japanese version of MySpace. Now, I’m not one to be an advocate for these types of sites, anymore that is, but Mixi seems fun. Maybe that’s just because a lot of cool Japanese people I know are on there though. Mixi allows users to upload photos, write blogs, add friends, join groups, and much more. Plus Mixi has an adorable postergirl, Mixitan (mixiãŸã‚“).
I’ve been on Mixi for almost half a year now. I’ve found it quite useful in terms of helping me with my Japanese skills. Talking with Japanese people, on a Japanese site, requires me to communicate in Japanese. That is the site’s benefit for individuals such as myself.
You can check it out at mixi.jp or ADD ME if you’re on there yourself.
Also: SparkPlugged was recently featured on Japundit Podcast episode 014! Thier recognition is extremely appreciated and I recommend giving it a listen! Thanks JP.

Hey awesome.
I’ve been looking for a good place to go peddle my shoddy Japanese. The only other options are like… JapanCupid.com and I want no part of that.
Did they just go invitation only? If so, can you send one along? I think this would be a great way for me to meet some keen people and improve my already horrid Japanese.
Oh, and major congratulations on the podcast.
