Fun in the Sunshine

There appears to be a pretty far-out movie coming out in 2006. It’s a movie directed by British director Danny Boyle, called The Untitled Sunshine Project. Funny name? Yeah, I thought so too. Apparently the story is about a spaceship that tries to save the sun from dying-out. The futuristic movie follows the crew on their sci-fi journey. Among other things, there are plenty of mishaps. It’s a modern sci-fi spaceship movie, that’s what always happens.

So, what’s the connection to the other content on this site? Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada of whom I am a huge fan of plays in it. As does Malaysian-Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh. Sanada plays a character named Kanada (that rhymes). Yeoh plays a character named Corazon. That is all I know thus far.

Check out the production team’s blog.

  1. That movie sounds kind of cool. Interesting to see that Michelle Yeoh is starring. Which kind of leads me to my next question: What do Japanese people think of her, especially with Memoirs of a Geisha? I think she has a pretty good stage presence and is actually a stronger actor as she gets older.

  2. I agree. To answer your question: most of the Japanese people I know like her and they don’t have a problem with Memoirs of a Geisha. She seems very respectable and I have to agree again.
