Farewell Ogi

Recently retired Japanese baseball manager, Akira Ogi died Thursday. He was 70. Ogi was best known for being the man that discovered Ichiro Suzuki (of Seattle Mariners fame). He was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004. Ogi had terms as manager for the Orix BlueWave and Kintetsu Buffaloes.

Most recently he managed the team created from the merger of Kintestsu and Orix, the Orix Buffaloes. He was manager of the Buffaloes until health problems forced him to step down in September.

He will surely be missed by many.
